Denmark 1st in entrepreneurship and opportunity
The Legatum Institute´s 2011 Prosperity Index points to Denmark as having the world's strongest entrepreneurial climate in terms of citizens' opportunity to realise new ideas and influence their lives, incomes and well being.
The Entrepreneurship & Opportunity index measures countries’ performance in three areas:
- Entrepreneurial environment
- Innovative activity
- Access to opportunity
Such factors as low costs to starting a business and public perception of a good entrepreneurial environment are important to improving citizens’ economic prospects and their overall wellbeing.
According to the Legatum Institute, a strong entrepreneurial climate is one in which citizens can pursue new ideas and opportunities for improving their lives, leading to higher levels of income and wellbeing. Thus, when a country increases the likelihood that entrepreneurial activity will pay off, and when individuals experience the satisfaction that comes from earning their success, a society’s prosperity increases overall.
