Global Business Informatics

The programme focuses on cooperation and communication between people across companies and continents.

IT constantly creates new possibilities for business solutions, but to make the most of them requires both technical and cultural understanding. The programme therefore combines theory and methods from computer science, social science and business studies.

As global cooperation is an important part of the programme, the course is in English.

Name: Global Business Informatics

The BSC in Global Business Informatics is a new English language programme starting in 2010.

On the course, you will work with the analysis and design of IT systems to support internal and external business communication.

You will work with the social science, business and technical aspects of IT.

The programme is divided into six semesters with both compulsory and optional courses. It is completed with a bachelor project.

Each year has a central theme:

  • First year - IT in a social context
  • Second year - IT in business
  • Third year - IT in a global world

In the first year you will learn the theoretical basis for how IT has changed the way we interact and how we can build bridges between people and technology.

The second year deals with IT at the business level. You will learn about organizational theory, project management and basic business understanding in order to develop tailored software.

The third year focuses on IT development in a global context with emphasis on cultural and management aspects. You will be working in the intersection between anthropology, sociology and technology.

Each year is divided into two semesters, an autumn semester and a spring semester. During a semester you will typically take three courses, one of which you will write a project in. There are two optional courses, one of which can be taken abroad.

Teaching varies between lectures and classroom instruction. The study and work form is based on project groups. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.

Global Business Informatics can be studied as a:

  • 3-year BSc programme (180 ECTS)

If you choose to complete the bachelor degree programme, you will graduate with the academic title of Bachelor of Science (BSc).
