Learning Danish

As an employee or student in Denmark you have the opportunity to take Danish language lessons free of charge. To sign up you need a Danish CPR number (i.e. ID number). Danish language courses are offered by a network of private and public language centres. Every city has a language centre, which you can locate on this map: www.dedanskesprogcentre.dk
Prior to your language course, an advisor will assess your Danish language skills. This ensures that you are enrolled in the course best suited to your needs. About half of all language students either work or are students, which is why the centres offer both day and evening courses. The courses are divided into six modules, each of which is concluded with a state-approved test in line with the Common European Framework for Languages.
Online learning
Online Danish courses are also available. They make it possible to learn a little of the language before arriving in Denmark. These web-based courses are targeted at both beginners and those who already have some knowledge of Danish. Students can use them to reach a good level of linguistic proficiency.
