Business, Language and Culture
In the programme, you learn both language and economics. You will also study foreign cultures and the problems or challenges that an international corporation may have to face.
You learn to analyse, assess and solve tasks in connection with corporate international activities.

The programme combines language and economics with an understanding of foreign cultures. You learn to analyse, assess and solve tasks in connection with corporate international activities. The idea is to incorporate cultural perspectives in analyses of international economic issues.
The programme contains five subject areas:
- Economics, where studies include international business administration and socioeconomics
- Language and Area Studies, where you attain oral skills in one or two languages and familiarity to these countries' cultures. At Copenhagen Business School you can study English plus another language, either French, German or Spanish and in the MSc programme you can also study Chinese or Japanese. At the University of Southern Denmark in Sønderborg you can study Chinese and at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense you can study English and an optional second language: Arabic, French, Spanish or German
- Culture and Social Studies, where you, for example, learn about inter-social relations and political systems
- Communications, where you study communication theories and methods, including those that apply to a corporation's national and international relations
- Interdisciplinary Research Methods, where you become familiar with the scientific theories and methods that are used within the profession
Teaching varies between lectures and classroom instruction. In addition, there is often project work together with other students. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.
Business, Language and Culture can be studied as:
- a 3-year BSc programme (180 ECTS) and a 2-year MSc programme (120 ECTS) at Copenhagen Business School (English and a second language)
or
- a 4-year BSc programme (240 ECTS) at the University of Southern Denmark in Sønderborg (Chinese)
or
- a 2-year MSc programme (120 ECTS) at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense (English and an optional second language)
Note: The extra year at the University of Southern Denmark in Sønderborg is a mandatory 60 ECTS basic Chinese course. You can join the programme without any prior knowledge of Chinese.
You also have the possibility to take single courses or subjects within the programme.
If you choose to complete the bachelor's programme, you will graduate with the academic title Bachelor of Science (BSc). Graduation from the master's programme confers the title Master of Science (MSc).
Educational Institutions
You can study Business, Language and Culture at Copenhagen Business School - CBS (Handelshøjskolen i København) in Copenhagen or at the University of Southern Denmark (Syddansk Universitet) in Sønderborg or Odense.
Entry Requirements
The general admission requirements for international students include one of the following international certificates: the Danish/French Baccalauréat (DFB), the European Baccalaureate (EB), the International Baccalaureate (IB), the Option Internationale du Baccalauréat (OIB) or another foreign qualifying examination certificate that can be equated with a Danish upper secondary school leaving certificate.
In addition, documentation may be required verifying your proficiency in English is at a specified level.
To be admitted to an MSc programme, you must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject.

Admission
The application deadline is March 15 for a course start in September. Admission is handled through The Danish Coordinated Application System. You can apply via optagelse.dk.
The application deadline for MSc programmes varies according to the educational institution. Contact the individual institution for further information regarding its application deadline and forms. Apply directly at the University.
A few educational institutions offer a course start in February, where applications are sent directly to the institution. Contact the educational institution for detailed information on application deadlines.
Exchange students should contact their home institution for information on application procedures and deadlines.
Tuition
There is a tuition fee for all full-time degree students, unless you are a student from a Nordic or EU country, or from Liechtenstein.
Students within an exchange programme are not required to pay tuition.

Semester Start
An academic year is made up of two semesters, which begin around September 1 and February 1.
