The MA programme in Film Studies provides you with a theoretical and analytical insight into modern film culture, film in a historical perspective, film institutions, film reception, film aesthetics, and the interaction between film, TV, and digital media in the new culture of audiovisual media. The programme incorporates a practical element that will give you an understanding of the link between theory and practice.

You will take study elements such as:

  • Media Organisations and Institutions
  • Audiovisual Communication
  • Film Aesthetics and Reception
  • Film/television History and Analysis

Teaching varies between lectures, classroom instruction and project work in groups. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.

The final six months you will be making your MA thesis.

Graduation from the master's degree programme confers the title Master of Arts (MA).

Entry Requirements

To be admitted to an MA programme, you must have a bachelor degree in a relevant subject.

In addition, documentation may be required verifying your proficiency in English is at a specified level.
