Master of HIV, MHIV
This programme gives you insight into the HIV disease, and the potential improvement of treatment programmes. It also covers prevention and other HIV-related subjects.
The programme is directed at healthcare workers with medical training.

Entry requirements: As a minimum a bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience.

Master of HIV is a 1-year flexible full-time degree programme comprising 2 modules and a Master Thesis. Module 1 is comprised of core topics, some of which are mandatory, and includes an optional study tour to Eastern Europe. Module 2 allows the student to specialize in the biomedical field or in the policy and organizational management of HIV.
The objective is to provide a scientific background with which to participate in the treatment of people with HIV.
Participants will also gain knowledge that will enable them to take part in the planning, execution and evaluation of prevention strategies and participate in the investigation of the disease while showing respect for the individual, social, cultural and political context.
The core modules are for the entire Master of HIV. Thereafter the students can choose either the Biomedical Line or the Policy and Organizational Management Line.

- History, epidemiology, prevention, immunology and virology
- Health systems, economics and treatment programmes
- HIV-related diseases, treatment and care 1
- Research design and methods 2
- Sexual and reproductive health
The Biomedical Line Courses:
- HIV immunology, virology and resistance
- HIV-related diseases, treatment and care 2
- HIV laboratory
The Policy and Organizational Management Line Courses:
- Health policy, governance and communication
- Masters of International Health Module 3B
The Thesis Module:
The thesis should demonstrate that the individual student is able to deal with complex problems which demands integration of empirical data, theory and methods. Students receive supervision from Faculty staff and other experts within their respective fields. While preparing their thesis, students have the opportunity to serve internships at collaborating centers.
The Modules and the Master Thesis are each completed by an examination.

Duration
MHIV courses can be taken as a full 1-year degree programme to be completed within 3 years or by enrolling in one or more modules.
Admission
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Have completed studies at a masters level in health sciences, economics, social sciences or other relevant academic training
- Have a relevant bachelor's degree from a university or equivalent institution
- Be health professionals with mid-level training of a minimum of 4 years or 3 years and documentation of completed full-time studies of at least one year at university level
- Adequate English language skills according to internationally recognized proficiency tests
Furthermore, as a minimum, applicants must have at least two years of relevant professional experience after having completed their relevant study.
