You will learn about materials such as plastic, concrete and metals and about the composition and production of materials and their suitability for different products.
You can take single courses or graduate from the entire programme as Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering (MSc).

Materials Science and Engineering is about the production, properties and behaviour of materials.
The programme is interdisciplinary and incorporates physics, chemistry, mathematics and mechanics. You will learn to optimise, control and predict the materials' properties and behaviour. You might work with materials for the automotive or the aircraft industry, for medical equipment, communication products, the food industry, energy production or sports equipment.
You have different possibilities of specialisation:
- Materials Processing Technology
- Materials Characterisation and Modelling
- Materials Properties and Uses
Teaching varies between lectures, classroom instruction, exercises and project work together with other students. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.
The final 6 months you will be making your MSc thesis. The thesis is a scientific research project, often carried out in collaboration with one of university's industrial partners.
Design and Innovation can be studied as a:
- 2-year masters degree programme (120 ECTS)
You also have the possibility to take single courses or subjects within the programme.
Graduation from the masters degree programme confers the title Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering (MSc).

To be admitted to an MSc programme, you must have a bachelor degree in a relevant subject.

Tuition
There is a tuition fee for all full-time degree students, unless you are a student from a Nordic or EU country, or from Liechtenstein.
